In "Romeo Tubbs," a young boy desperately seeks an advance on his allowance from his father, but is refused due to heavy spending. After accidentally eating a frog instead of his lunch, Romeo consults with friends about finding a birthday present for a girl named Hildegarde. Two girls, Daisy and Hildegarde, decide to write to a lonely hearts club magazine in hopes of getting mail from boys, with each girl willing to write the letter if it means attracting Romeo's attention. The girls execute their plan together, agreeing to pursue the scheme as a team.
