Romeo #20 July 1974
In "The Story of Mara," a quiet moment of loneliness turns into a turning point when Carole, walking alone after being left out, is struck by a car and sent to the countryside to recover. As Mike waits for her return, a letter arrives that changes everything—Carole has found something new, far from the town they both knew. Drawn with quiet intensity by Jorge Badía Romero, this poignant tale captures a moment of unexpected transformation, where loss and longing meet the quiet possibility of a different life.

Although Carole has a limp, Mike takes her out every Wednesday as sort of a companionship, while still dating other girls. One Wednesday, he is out with another girl so Carole goes out alone. When the fellas make fun of her limp, she runs blindly into the street and is hit by a car. She is sent to the country to convalesce and Mike finds himself waiting for her to return. Eventually, he receives a letter saying she has fallen in love with a boy up there and won't be coming back.
