"Once Again I Live" follows a woman named Kathy who meets Ted Somers at a party and falls in love with him, but refuses his marriage proposal because she feels burdened by the responsibility of supporting her widowed mother and younger sister. Ted persists in courting her, taking her to shows, movies, and concerts around New York City, and gradually wins her heart through his kindness and understanding. When her father dies, Kathy must leave school to work as a salesgirl, and eventually she and Ted reconcile, with the implication that she will marry him. Another story, "Til Something Better Comes Along," depicts a struggling artist named Steve who uses a clever woman named Carol as a stepping stone to success, only to find that Carol has informed a potential client about his artistic abilities, leading to his success but also to his realization that he values his career more than their relationship.
