Donna wins a Hollywood screen test after her hometown boyfriend Dan submits some glamour photos of her. Donna gets a studio contract and press agent Greg concocts a fake biography for her, claiming she’s a wealthy socialite rather than a small-town girl. Donna and Greg fall in love but he’s afraid Dan’s photos of her mundane past as a "hash-slinger" will ruin her career. Donna gets the photos back from Dan and he feels betrayed. Donna realizes she loves Dan and reveals the truth about her background to the press. Greg is upset but Dan shows up and punches him. Donna and Dan reconcile.
