In 1946, Sheila waits for a bus in a tiny English village that brings back memories of the war years. During the war, her current fiance had been injured and her brother had been killed when they tried to hide in a house, but owners of the house turned them in. Later in the war, Sheila had been forced to make a difficult decision when a downed German pilot attempted to escape capture, using the farm where she lived alone as refuge.
