Six months after Christine's plane crashes, Mark loses all hope of finding her. At a friend's suggestion, he takes a pleasure trip and encounters Janet, who he had not seen since they left architectural college. Now Mark and Janet are engaged and the wedding announcement appears in magazines worldwide. In a clinic in Switzerland, Cicely Norton was recovering from an operation when she saw the announcement. She returns to London and offers her services as Mark's secretary. But there is something about her that reminds Mark of Christine.
