Rocky Lane pursues a fox that has been hiding in an ivy-covered cave, discovering the animal has been used by criminals to smuggle a bank check. After a confrontation with the fox's handler, Rocky Lane defeats the criminals in a gunfight. The story then shifts to an investigation of a missing banker named Bob Dunder, who may have created a forged check or been killed for his knowledge of a ten-thousand-dollar bank note, ultimately leading Rocky to question the general store owner about who purchased supplies related to the scheme.
