Atlas Comics' western hero steps boldly into the spotlight in Ringo Kid #18 (June 1957), with Joe Maneely's cover perfectly capturing the tension of the frontier. The Ringo Kid stands center stage in his signature black outfit and red bandana, holding up his own wanted poster — "Dead or Alive!" — while a cigarette-smoking gunman lurks in the doorway to his right and two more rough characters close in from behind. The cover's tagline says it all: "Ringo!! The name that makes killers tremble!" — and with Stan Goldberg's vivid colors setting the mood, this is ten cents of Western drama well spent.
