Ricky and Debbie visit Maine's sardine industry, beginning with a tour of a carrier boat where they observe the skipper and workers inspecting and processing the fresh sardine catch. The couple then travels to the cannery, where they learn about the production process: hundreds of trained female workers hand-pack the fish into cans, which are sealed and cooked in retort pressure cookers, cooled in water, and packed into bins before being shipped.
