“Rick and Morty Finals Week: Contested Convention”

In "Rick and Morty Finals Week: Contested Convention" #1, Rick’s latest scheme takes a wild turn when he storms into the president’s campaign prep to force help for Morty’s government studies project—only to escalate things by unleashing Doofus Rick in a bid for the party nomination. With Beth joining the fray and the stakes rising, the political arena becomes a chaotic battleground of egos, alternate selves, and interdimensional meddling. Written by James Asmus and Jim Festante, with dynamic art by Suzi Blake and bold colors by Meg Casey, this 2024 Oni Press issue features a cover by Suzi Blake that captures the absurdity perfectly.

Rick barges in on Mr. President demanding that he help Morty with his school project on government studies. Rick and our chief executive have a long history of antagonistic interactions and Rick's portal-facilitated incursion into the president's party-nomination-acceptance speech prep adds additional fuel to their ongoing hostilities. When the commander-in-chief refuses to assist Morty, Rick runs the dumbest alternate version of himself, Doofus Rick, to complete for and win the (unnamed) party's nomination. An infuriated Beth also makes a run, resulting in the titular "Contested Convention".
