The survivors of Rick's superhero tryout competition of last issue become the new team to save Earth, but not before Rick subjects them to marketing and merchandising photos. The team takes off for New York City, where a robotic-suited Snowball causes great destruction. The disparate and disjointed heroes fail miserably and die at the hands (paws) of Snowball, who is joined by a vengeful Kiara. Supernova convinces Rick to turn the Smiths into a family of superheroes who can better work together against their common enemy... but is Supernova really on Rick's side of this war?
