Richie Rich Millions #9

The issue is notable for spotlighting Cadbury in a comedic action role — filling in as a magician at a party — a story type that helped define his dual identity as both prim servant and surprisingly capable man of action, a characterization that would become central to his appeal across dozens of Harvey titles. The Ibn Abal adventure storyline in the issue represents the early-1960s Harvey formula of giving Richie globe-trotting, adventure-serial plots within the anthology format, blending gentle comedy with light intrigue. While not a landmark first-appearance issue, it exemplifies the creative direction that kept the Richie Rich line vital through the Silver Age.

Richie Rich Millions launched in September 1961 as part of the first wave of dedicated Richie Rich spin-off titles at Harvey Comics, capitalizing on the character's breakout popularity after his 1953 debut in Little Dot #1. By the time issue #9 shipped in June 1964, Warren Kremer — Richie's co-creator and the defining visual architect of the Harvey humor line — was providing cover art, with interior stories and art credited to Sid Couchey and others, reflecting Harvey's standard studio approach of spreading anthology content across a small stable of house artists. The Richie Rich Millions title positioned itself as a giant-size anthology, running 68 pages, and was aimed at young readers who wanted longer, more adventure-oriented stories alongside the usual gag strips.
