Richie gives Gloria a bad luck charm which Mr. Rich discovered from an ancient civilization. After a series of bad luck events - including a bridge collapsing (which was intended to be taken down anyway), and a guy rescuing the kids, but became a kidnapping on board a yacht. After the culprits were arrested, Mr. Rich clarified it is actually a good luck charm, and the good luck the kids had was that they were never hurt.
