With Kit, Harry, and Lon in tow, he recounts his past ordeal with Rev. Swinborne while navigating the island’s eerie rhythms, only to be warned by the enigmatic Lulu about a mysterious new threat—the Black Widow. Blackburn’s deeply personal art and storytelling, from pencils to inks, bring the island’s secrets to life in a story that’s equal parts memory, mystery, and menace.
In "The Dark Island," Coley returns to the mysterious Voodoo Island with his friends Kit, Harry, and Lon, seeking escape from the world. As he shares the chilling tale of his past captivity by Rev. Swinborne, he reconnects with Maria and dances with her for the tourists—only to be warned by the enigmatic Lulu about a dangerous new sorceress known as the Black Widow. When a shark attack threatens Kit and Lon, Coley rushes to save them, risking everything in the process.
In "Island Heat," the tension aboard the sailing ship simmers as Coley shares a moment with both Tina and Mark, while on shore, Felix mocks Tina’s boyfriend Darryl for his overconfidence. As Kit watches from the sidelines, Darryl and Lon’s growing closeness takes a sudden turn when they’re ambushed by a shadowy islander. Later, Kit and Harry reflect on the tangled relationships around them, with Harry offering a wry reminder: “Life is much too important to be taken seriously.”
