An ambitious deputy named Al Mooney seizes the chance to capture Billy the Kid when the notorious outlaw is spotted in town—but the Kid escapes with a hidden gun, wounding the sheriff and leaving Mooney in hot pursuit with a score to settle. Cornered at a farmstead with just one bullet left in his gun, Billy faces an impossible choice that forces him to reveal something the deputy never expected to find in an outlaw's heart.
