A lone figure in a white suit walks a deserted highway toward an enormous, angular alien spacecraft descending from a star-filled sky, while walls of fire and smoke billow on either side — it's a cover that instantly communicates scale, dread, and strange wonder. Emem's artwork for this opening chapter of Renaissance, subtitled "Ontheemd," pairs that vast, ominous vessel with an almost eerily calm human silhouette, creating a tension that feels both cinematic and deeply personal. Writers Fred Duval and Dieter Van Tilburgh launch the series through Dargaud Benelux in 2019, and this first issue sets a striking, atmospheric tone right from the first glance.
