Rei Sen Pacific continues with this second volume from Olivier Speltens, whose cover painting captures the tension of the Pacific theater with striking immediacy. Two twin-boom P-38 Lightning fighters sweep low over dense jungle terrain beneath a stormy sky, while below, a group of soldiers hunker behind a sandbagged jungle fortification, rifles trained outward into the undergrowth. The contrast between the mechanical power roaring overhead and the grim, ground-level reality of the men in the trenches makes for a genuinely arresting image.
