Rei das Trevas #1

The penultimate chapter of this four-part Brazilian Marvel event (subtitled Relâmpago) puts a formidable X-Men lineup front and center — Wolverine charging ahead with claws bared, flanked by Rogue, Storm, Cyclops, and what appears to be Gambit — while a tide of massive, snarling dark creatures looms in the shadows behind them. Cover pencils by Ryan Stegman with inks by JP Mayer give the composition a kinetic, almost cinematic urgency, and Frank Martin's brooding color palette makes that contrast between the heroes and the encroaching darkness feel genuinely ominous. If you've been following Rei das Trevas, issue #3 looks like exactly the kind of escalating showdown this series has been building toward.
