Red Tornado #2
The second chapter of this 2009 DC miniseries arrives with a striking cover by Ed Benes and J. P. Mayer: a glowing, commanding female android figure cradles a battered Red Tornado against what appears to be a swirling blue cape or wind effect, the contrast between her luminous composure and his clearly damaged state lending the image a haunting, almost pietà-like weight. Kevin VanHook's script, brought to life by penciler José Luís and inker J. P. Mayer, continues "Fire and Water!" — and if this cover is any indication, the android hero is in serious trouble. Four more issues remain in the series, and this one looks like a pivotal turn.
