Sonja is employed by King Akkimar to train his troops. He sends her on a mission to the north border to scout for enemies. She leaves Ophiran to train the troops. Sonja discovers the army from Koth on the move towards Shem. Meanwhile Ophiran is notified that a Messantian legion is crossing the western border and takes his trainees to meet them. Sonja returns to Persemhia to find that Ophiran and his troops have been slain.
