Red Robin #21
Subtitled "Mad World!" right on the cover, Red Robin #21 (May 2011) presents Tim Drake's costumed alter ego standing his ground in a fiery orange haze while a crowd of frenzied, reaching civilians swarms around him from every angle — the sheer outnumbered tension is palpable. Marcus To and Ray McCarthy give the scene a kinetic, almost vertigo-inducing energy, with the mob's grasping hands filling nearly every inch of the frame around Red Robin's composed, defiant stance. Writer Fabian Nicieza's "The Rabbit Hole" arc is clearly building toward something unsettling, and this cover sells that chaos beautifully.
