Red Mask and his partner confront Don Cristoforo, a ruthless cattle baron operating in Mexico, who has been stealing horses and holding prisoners for ransom in the stone dungeons of the Mendez hacienda. In "Death's Hostage," an old museum keeper in Bullet Town is taken hostage by the Black Hat Gang while they raid for treasures from the Old West, prompting Red Mask and the Black Phantom to intervene and stop the masked killers from making off with the artifacts. Additionally, a separate story features the Ghost Rider and young cowboys at the Bar-X Ranch, where they encounter mysterious deaths and a stampeding cattle herd.

Black Phantom

When the Black Hat Gang targets Bullet Town's sheriffs for elimination, elderly museum-keeper Hub Hickey steps up to wear the badge—but the outlaws kidnap him to force the town to release their imprisoned gang members. Racing against time through clues of crushed bluebells and tobacco-juice stains, Redmask and the Black Phantom must track the gang to their hideout in the Ripsaw Hills before Hub becomes expendable. With the masked lawmen closing in and Hub forced to cook for his captors, a desperate rescue unfolds where an old gunhand's wits may prove as vital as his guns ever were.
