Reanimator #4

This fourth and final issue of Dynamite's 2015 Reanimator series closes out with a cover by Francesco Francavilla that is equal parts unsettling and mesmerizing — a close-up portrait of a dark-haired, bespectacled figure whose face is literally split between living flesh and bare skull, one glowing yellow eye staring out from each half, while a filled syringe is held deliberately at chin level against a bold red spiral backdrop. It's a striking visual thesis statement for a series rooted in H.P. Lovecraft's mad-science horror, perfectly capturing the line between life and death that Herbert West so gleefully blurs. Writer Keith Davidsen and artist Randy Valiente bring "Beyond Good and Evil" home with a creative team that has made this one of 2015's more memorable horror comics.
