Raised in an Oregon lumber camp, Jeanie is sent back east to spend time with her aunt and uncle. She and Leo fall in love: he thinks she's "sweet and simple and unspoiled!" Jeanie is well-educated, however, and shows off by correcting Leo's errors. Leo stops calling and her uncle says "No man wants to think a woman knows more than he does!" When she meets Ken, Jeanie plays dumb but can't stand it. She confesses all to Ken and he says "No man could really be happy with a woman who wasn't his intellectual equal!" Meanwhile, Leo marries "one of the dumbest girls in town!"
