“Too Shy for Love”

In "Too Shy for Love," Polly’s engagement to Ashby hangs in the balance when her playful flirtations—especially with Dewey—threaten to end things before they begin. After a painful misunderstanding at a pivotal moment, Polly takes it upon herself to make things right, reaching out to Ashby through the USO dances near his military camp. With heartfelt determination and the help of his fellow soldiers, she sets out to clear the air. Art by Dick Beck and inks by Sam Cooper bring this 1953 romance to life in a 10-cent comic that captures the quiet tension and hope of young love during wartime.
