Mark breaks up with Lila, but says he'll say she dumped him so she won't be humiliated. He is then killed in an auto accident and his friends blame Lila. Crane defends her and they fall in love. However, Lila breaks their engagement because Crane will be ostracized by their friends. Mark's mother calls everyone to her house and introduces them to Mark's fiancee Jan, clearing Lila of any guilt in his accidental death. The others apologize and Crane and Lila will be married.
