Rangers of Freedom Comics #1
In "The Super-Brain," three young men—Biff, Tex, and Percy—are recruited by the FBI to combat a shadowy mental force threatening America’s democracy, forming the Rangers of Freedom in a desperate bid to protect the nation. Drawn into a high-stakes battle of wills, they face a mysterious enemy who uses a brain-compelling ray to turn them against their own country. Written by R. W. Colt and illustrated by Joe Doolin, with a striking cover by Dan Zolnerowich, this 1941 adventure blends pulp intrigue with early superhero tropes in a story that’s as much about loyalty as it is about mind control.
