The issue contains two stories. In the first, the Range Rider and Dick borrow horses from a ranch to pursue two fleeing crowbaits, leaving a note and money as deposit. The second story, "Showdown," follows Ernie Bolton, editor of the Stony Creek Gazette, who is challenged to a poker game by the sinister Slim Dalrymple; Slim cheats by concealing aces in his overcoat pocket, but Ernie exposes the fraud. When a will is read the next day, a dispute erupts over land inheritance, and a man named Clay challenges the will's terms, prompting the Range Rider to intervene and urge fair resolution.
