The eighth volume of Lewis Trondheim's Ralph Azham series arrives with a quietly striking cover: a lone figure — white-haired and red-cloaked — perches atop a crumbling stone archway in a misty graveyard, surrounded by weathered ruins and skeletal trees. The subdued palette and eerie stillness give the scene a melancholy weight that feels perfectly in tune with the subtitle, Personne n'attrape une rivière ("Nobody Catches a River"). Trondheim's deceptively simple linework does a lot of heavy lifting here, turning a graveyard into something genuinely atmospheric and full of quiet tension.
