From Lewis Trondheim, this eleventh volume of Ralph Azham — subtitled L'engrenage — finds our fox-eared hero poised on a rooftop with bow drawn, a mysterious blue-feathered companion standing calmly at his side, as a sprawling medieval town stretches out in the valley below. Trondheim's signature charming linework and muted palette give the scene a quietly tense, adventurous atmosphere that fans of the series have come to love. A fine 2018 addition to one of Dupuis's most consistently enjoyable fantasy series.
