Nov 2012 · DC · 2.99 USD
“Exodus”

In "Exodus," the third issue of *Punk Rock Jesus*, writer and artist Sean Murphy continues the intense, emotionally charged journey of Chris—a genetically-engineered clone of Jesus Christ—navigating a life shaped by reality TV and hidden pressures. As his mother Gwen struggles to protect him, the show's facade crumbles when Chris, isolated and desperate, takes defiant public action, while Gwen faces her own breaking point. The issue's raw tension is matched by Murphy's striking visuals and Todd Klein’s precise lettering, all anchored in a cover by Murphy that captures the moment’s haunting weight.

His mother, Gwen, tries to give him a normal life, and blackmails Slate to let Chris attend public school. Gwen tries to leave and take Chris, Slate fires Gwen and locks her out. On TV Chris says the show is over until his mom comes back, and spray paints messages like 'I'm a hostage' on walls.
