Punisher: War Zone #6

The conclusion to Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's six-part War Zone story arrives with a cover that captures the series' darkly absurd tone perfectly — Frank Castle looms large in his skull-emblazoned black suit, shotgun raised, pistol in hand, against a smoldering orange sky. Flanking him are two supporting characters, one clutching a pumpkin of all things, lending the scene an oddly domestic comic edge that only Ennis and Dillon could pull off with a straight face. It's a fitting final chapter image for one of 2009's most entertaining Marvel Knights Punisher stories.
