The 2026 Punisher ongoing was announced by Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski at the Lucca Comics & Games festival in Italy in late 2025, growing directly out of Percy's preceding polybagged mature-reader miniseries Punisher: Red Band (co-illustrated with Julius Ohta). Percy described Red Band as a 'prologue' and framed the ongoing as a new phase designed to welcome fresh readers while honoring continuity — explicitly including threads from Jason Aaron's run, such as the Hand's mark on Frank's back. Issue #4 carries the standard creative team of Percy on script, Soares Pinto and Sergio Dávila on pencils, Oren Junior and Jonas Trindade on inks, Frank D'Armata on colors, VC's Cory Petit on letters, and David Marquez providing cover art throughout the series; Edward Devin Lewis edited the issue.
