“Black Owl Joins Yank and Doodle”

In "Black Owl Joins Yank and Doodle," Professor Stevens finds himself tangled in a bizarre mystery after receiving a turtle named Myrtle at a testimonial dinner—only to be confronted by a hooded thief demanding its return at gunpoint. With the help of the newly arrived Black Owl, the professor must unravel the truth behind the turtle’s strange significance, uncovering a hidden message on its underside that points to a looming bank heist. Penciled and inked by Henry Kiefer, this 1943 adventure blends wartime intrigue with a touch of whimsy, while the cover by Dan Zolnerowich captures the story’s playful yet tense tone.
