After Prince Valiant is separated from his ship's crew, they plunder a town on the Misty Isles, but end up paying for their crimes. Val sees the vengeance, but doesn't know it is deserved. He finds Queen Aleta by a waterfall, but thinks her the ruler over a cruel people and spurns her. Val finds a small boat, fully-provisioned by Aleta, unknown to him and sails to Athens, where he meets Boltar the Viking. He has adventures with Boltar and his crew and eventually meets Sir Gawain.
