“Part 4 of 4”

The concluding chapter of Garth Ennis's four-part Vertigo series arrives with a cover by John Higgins that pulls no punches — a large, looming face dominates the composition, tears streaking down from one eye, while smaller figures armed with handguns emerge from dense woodland foliage below, and a hand grips a shotgun in the foreground. The layered, painterly greens and purples give the whole image a foreboding, almost suffocating tension that feels entirely fitting for a series finale. If the first three issues drew you in, this closing installment looks every bit as intense as the buildup promised.
