Dark Horse kicks off a new Predator series with a cover by Raymond Swanland that immediately announces its ambitions — a hulking, armored Predator erupts from a chaotic battlefield, mandibles agape and claws outstretched, wreckage and debris swirling around it in a storm of violence. The painterly rendering gives the creature an almost mythic scale, every piece of its biomechanical armor rendered in meticulous, shadowy detail. With John Arcudi writing and Javier Saltares on art, this 2009 series looks set to deliver the relentless tension the franchise demands.
