En indianer bringer et hemmelig budskap til Triste Gufas, og han drar avgårde uten å si hvorfor. En hvit hypnotisør og høvdingen Gale Elg har avtale med engelskmennene om å få valgt Gale Elg som overhøvding for stammene. Gufas beseirer ham i kamp og blir den nye overhøvdingen.
