Jonathan Hickman's ambitious Powers of X reaches its midpoint with issue three, and the cover makes a striking impression: a red-skinned, tail-bearing mutant wielding a rapier crouches alongside a blue-skinned woman in red-and-gold armor who raises a glowing energy sword, while a looming armored sentinel-like figure dominates the shadowed background above them. R. B.
