History

The issue was announced in May 2024 and positioned explicitly as a follow-up to 'Darkest Hour,' the 30th-anniversary conclusion of the long-running BOOM! Studios Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series. Writer Sam Humphries — known for his DC work on Green Lanterns and Harley Quinn — was brought in alongside artist duo Brandt&Stein (known for their indie series Crowded) to deliver something tonally distinct from the mainline book. Editor Allyson Gronowitz, who oversaw the final run of the core series, shepherded this one-shot as part of a broader transitional publishing moment for the Power Rangers comics line at BOOM! Studios.
