Jim Owsley took over as writer with issue #111, bringing penciller Mark Bright aboard starting with #115 after working with him previously on the Falcon miniseries. Owsley publicly announced his ambitions for the book in Amazing Heroes' 1985 Preview Issue, framing the CCI storyline — introduced in #114 when Luke and Danny were tricked into signing on as security specialists — as the backbone of a creative reinvention for a series that had been drifting editorially. The issue was edited by the veteran Dennis O'Neil, with Jim Shooter serving as editor-in-chief, and featured a cover by John Byrne — who playfully signed it 'Byrrrrrrne' as a wink at the arctic setting. Owsley was simultaneously taking on the full Spider-Man editorial role at Marvel during this period, making his sustained creative focus on Power Man and Iron Fist a notable feat of parallel industry labor.
