This anthology issue contains two crime stories. "Louie Gruber: Czar of the Underworld" follows the rise and fall of a ruthless crime boss who built his empire through murder and violence in February 1950, only to be brought down when his greed and cruelty lead to his destruction. "The Unseen Murderer" tells of Detective Peter Allen, shot by an unknown assailant during what he believes is his final case; as he lies dying in March 1946, he must solve the murder to frame the words of his stiffening lips, leading to an investigation that uncovers a criminal plot involving arson and bombing orchestrated by a man named McCoy.
