Planet of the Apes #3

Boom! Studios' 2011 series continues with "The Long War Part 3," and this cover wastes no time conveying the raw tension at the heart of this world — a powerfully built human and a massive, snarling gorilla square off fists-raised against a smoke-shrouded, ruined cityscape. Karl Richardson's cover art renders the standoff with a gritty, painterly intensity that makes the confrontation feel genuinely dangerous. Writer Daryl Gregory and artist Carlos Magno's series clearly isn't pulling any punches in its third chapter.
