In "Arena of Death!", Ka-Zar faces a deadly trial when Queen Tandylla demands he marry her or die in the arena. Forced into combat alongside the enigmatic Zartros the Gnome, he battles a brutal gladiator named Makrum and barely escapes with his life. As the two flee, Zartros reveals that Tandylla has been manipulated into her role—sparking Ka-Zar’s vow to rescue her. Meanwhile, Ka-Zar’s companions stumble upon a strange city of elders, where Kirk Marston’s sudden allegiance to the inhabitants raises troubling questions.
