Pirates Comics #3 is an anthology featuring stories about notorious sea pirates. One story depicts a naval battle between the government sloop Vigilant and the pirate Yardarm Jack, who attempts to plunder a merchant vessel but is ultimately defeated and captured by federal forces led by Lieutenant Curtis. Another story, "Philip Ashton: Boy Pirate Fighter of the Old World," is set during the time of Columbus and recounts how English boy Philip Ashton, visiting his Spanish uncle Don Ivizco, becomes involved with the pirate El Sac and his raiders, with Philip vowing to pursue El Sac after a confrontation.
