“The Art of Doing Nothing”

From the Archie Series comes this delightfully silly 1960 installment of The Adventures of Pipsqueak, with cover art by Walt Lardner. The cover sets up the fun perfectly: a confident little cowboy in a oversized hat and red outfit leads a grumpy, helmet-wearing "spaceman" on a chain, while a small dog trots along ahead — and the cowboy's boast that he's "the first cowboy in town to catch a man from outer space, even if it is Knucklehead!" says everything about the charm of this series. At just a dime, this was wholesome, gag-driven comics entertainment done with a light, cheerful touch.
