Régis Loisel's dark, painterly cover for this 2002 Egmont Polska edition says everything you need to know about the title "Sztorm" — a sailing vessel is being torn apart by a ferocious night storm, jagged lightning splitting the sky as desperate figures cling to the pitching wreckage amid churning, foam-laced waves. It's a remarkably atmospheric image, all deep blues and blacks punctuated by that electric white flash, giving Loisel's reimagining of the Peter Pan world a genuinely unsettling, adult edge. Fans of thoughtful, beautifully rendered European bande dessinée will find this third chapter of Piotruś Pan hard to resist.
