In "Têtes et champignons," amnesiac adventurer Corto Maltese journeys with Jeremiah Steiner to Maracaibo, where Steiner’s friend Levi Colombia proposes an expedition to find El Dorado. When Steiner tries to restore Corto’s memory by cooking a risotto laced with hallucinogenic mushrooms, he accidentally plunges into a vivid dream—where he and Corto are already deep in the jungle, hunted by indigenous tribes—only to wake abruptly, shaken. The experience triggers Corto’s long-lost memories, but leaves him unwilling to join the quest.
