Jenny is engaged to a war correspondent and they plan to get married when he returns from an assignment in Vietnam. Four months later her childhood friend, who secretly loves her, shows her the letter he has received from Lewis, telling him that he is marrying someone else. Jenny loses the will to live, but as she recovers she is advised to go to the country to convalesce. She decides to visit Lewis's childhood home and meets his new fiancée waiting for him there.
