“Danger! Thin Shoulders!”

In "Danger! Thin Shoulders!", twin sister Lorrie steps into the spotlight after her famous sister Linda Lane asks her to impersonate her for a few days. Posing as the glamorous actress, Lorrie finds herself overwhelmed by fans and the pressures of fame—especially when actor Gary pushes her to abandon her contract for a big film role, though her friend Jean suspects his motives aren’t entirely noble. Written and illustrated by Fred Bell, this 1950 Charlton tale captures the fleeting allure of stardom through a quiet, character-driven story. The cover, by Don Ornitz, perfectly frames the tension between identity and illusion.

Lorrie arrives at the boarding house run by Mrs. Michaels. She is the twin sister of actress Linda Lane and wants to break into show business herself. Linda asks Lorrie to impersonate her for a few days so she can go home and rest. Lorrie, accompanied by Jean, faces hordes of fans and others competing for her attention. Actor Gary urges “Linda” to break her contract and appear in a film with him, but Jean knows it’s just to revive his own career. Lorrie decides acting is not for her and goes back to her hometown and her waiting boyfriend.
